Swim in natural infinity pools with spectacular mountain views
Upper Diyaluma Falls is one of the most breathtaking natural wonders near Ella, rising at a height of 220 meters — the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Unlike the lower viewpoint you see from the main road, the upper section features a series of crystal-clear natural infinity pools where you can swim while enjoying panoramic mountain vistas.
The journey to Upper Diyaluma is an adventure in itself — a short drive from Ella followed by a 30-minute hike through rolling hills and tea fields. It’s a hidden gem where nature and tranquility come together, perfect for adventurers and photographers alike.
The waterfall is located about an hour’s drive (25 km) from Ella toward Koslanda. You can take a Tuk Tuk or car arranged by Ella City Tour, followed by a scenic hike to the top.
The trail begins near the small village of Poonagala and takes around 30 minutes to reach the summit pools. The entire journey offers breathtaking views of rolling hills and tea estates.
